The Paul Manton Pavilion opened at Gladesville Reserve in February 2026, completing a $2.3 million transformation of sports facilities that have served the Hunters Hill community since 1920.
The modern pavilion features solar panels, dedicated female and male changerooms, public toilets, and storage areas for sporting groups using the reserve’s courts and fields. Construction by 2020 Projects Pty Ltd began in July 2023 with demolition of the old amenities block.
Hunters Hill Council secured co-funding from NSW Government Office of Sport grants for the project. The reserve is part of the Henley Precinct and includes basketball courts, netball courts, a skate park, playing fields, and cricket nets across upper and lower sections.
A council representative said the facility delivers modern, accessible amenities that will support players, families and visitors for years to come. The council described honouring Paul Manton as especially meaningful, recognising his longstanding contribution to local sport and community life through the building’s naming.
The pavilion’s solar panels reflect the council’s sustainability approach to sports infrastructure. The female-specific changerooms address inclusion gaps that previous facilities did not meet, supporting modern community sports requirements.
Hunters Hill Council did not make additional representatives available for comment beyond the announcement.
The upgrade took nearly three years from planning to completion, representing a significant long-term infrastructure investment. With competitive NSW Government co-funding, comprehensive sports facility upgrades of this scale are not easily replicated across all communities.
